At Backyard, we love our music, and we continue to enjoy the privilege of attracting some of the best musicians in the local scene. Independent up and coming solo artists to veteran recording artists, soloist to full 15 piece percussion bands have all graced our stage with their different genres playing music from all kinds of genres from instrumentals to country and western, jazz to grunge, ballads to heavy rock, easy listening to South African rhythms.

Beginning 2004, the whole music department was entrusted to Mr Edmund Anthony who has successfully turned Backyard Pub into one of the major players of the music industry in Malaysia.

We are proud to have hosted renowned acts such as Paul Ponnudurai, Amir Yusof, Vijay David, Albert Sirimal, Rafique Rashid, Julian Mokhtar, Viji, Lewis Pragasam, Gerard Singh, Simon Justin Leo, Sherman Tan, Andy Peterson, The Alleycats, Bala, Jerry Felix, Os Pombos and many other stalwarts in the Malaysian music industry.

To break out from the routine of regular acts, our ‘One Night Only’ shows have got the whole town talking bout it. We have specially themed nights from reunion of past bands, passing thru international acts, album launches, and specially designed music nights like ‘The 3Guitar Challenge’, ‘Genres of June’, ‘From Rainforest Music Festival to Backyard’, ‘From Genting Int’l Jazz Festival to Backyard’, ‘Mr. Flamenco Meets Mr. Gambus’ and many more. Musicians who have hounoured us with their performances include Peter Dickson (Australia), Basadi Women of Jazz (South Africa), ‘Mr. Gambus’ Farid Ali (Malaysia),Madison Flynt (Denmark),Akasha (Malaysia), Karen Nunis Blackstone (Japan), Soul Circle (Singapore), Fasy (Maldives), Junkofunc (Malaysia) and many more. And there’s Platters too.

We now offer live music performances every day, 24 - 7, and believe are only a handful of pubs in the Klang Valley to boast and be proud of such an accomplished music scene. In 2008 Backyard Pub has been rated best pub for music by a major local daily.

Since 2004, during the months of October-November, we host the Jairus Anthony Music Festival (JAM Fest) annually in memory of long-time pub-singer Jairus Anthony. This two-month long music festival aims as a platform to showcase young up and coming talents in the country. It brings together many musicians young and old to celebrate the life of Jairus for which he dedicated over two decades to the local pub circuit.

Edmund’s Music Management skills have been recognized by his peers and was chosen to manage Malaysian Representative to the Genting International Jazz Fest 2008, managing Junkofunc, a signature musical project comprising of the most sought after musicians throughout Malaysia and Asia.
